Name: Wean more lambs
Description: A workshop for sheep producers who want to improve the reproduction rate of their flock.
Cost: After NSW Government subsidy, $185 incl. GST.
Course aims: To assist participants set flock reproduction targets and develop an annual program to wean more lambs for breeding or sale.
Learning outcomes:
  • Determine the value of improving reproduction rates in the sheep enterprise
  • Identify important flock nutrition and reproduction targets
  • Benchmark your flock's reproductive performance and establish future targets
  • Develop new skills including fat scoring, checking ram health and 'wet and drying' ewes
  • Understand which factors contribute to reproductive wastage in sheep flocks
  • Develop an annual calendar of activities to integrate nutrition and reproductive targets

Resources and method of delivery: Participants are provided with a workshop manual.

This workshop is delivered on farm in the shearing shed with demonstrations conducted in the sheep yards.

Accreditation: This course covers elements of the national unit of competency, RTE5103A - Manage livestock production.

This course is delivered in partnership with Meat and Livestock Australia.
