Name: Wood chipper operation
Description: A course for contractors and council workers who want to develop their skills in operating wood chippers.
Cost: After NSW Government subsidy, $490 GST-free.
Course aim: To assist participants to safely and effectively operate wood chippers.
Learning outcomes:
  • Prepare wood chipper for use 
  • Identify OHS hazards 
  • Safely operate wood chipper for optimum performance 
  • Follow correct shutdown procedures 
  • Report any faults, irregular performance and damage 
Length: 2 days
Course program/structure

Day 1:

  • Conduct pre-operational checks
  • OHS hazards and risk control measures
  • Safe wood chipper operation

Day 2:

  • Machinery maintenance
  • Operation of wood chipper in the workplace
  • Shutdown procedures
  • Reporting on faults, performance and damage
Resources and method of delivery: Participants receive course training materials.

This course is delivered using indoor and outdoor instruction.

Accreditation This course has been mapped to the national unit of competency RTC3310A - Operate specialised machinery.
