Name: Irrigated lucerne for profit
Description: This course is suited for growers, agronomist, retailers, hay and silage contractors, or anyone with an interest in irrigate lucerne.
Cost: After NSW Government subsidy, $540 GST-free.
Includes an informative reference manual.
Course aims:
  • To provide the knowledge and skills needed to grow and market irrigated lucerne efficiently and profitably.
Learning outcomes:
  • Plan for profitable irrigated lucerne production
  • Establish and manage irrigate lucerne to produce high quality hay and silage
  • Irrigation management and scheduling for efficient water use
Length: 2 days
Course program/structure:
  • The lucerne plant
  • Growing quality lucerne - establishment
  • Growing quality lucerne - management
  • Lucerne seed production
  • Irrigation management of lucerne
  • Forage conservation - hay, silage, feed quality
  • Economics and marketing
Resources and method of delivery: Participants will receive a course manual and NSW DPI lucerne publications.

This course is delivered using a mixture of both indoor and outdoor/paddock based instruction and demonstration.

Accreditation: This course is mapped to the following national unit of competency, RTE5015A - Develop production plans for crops.
