Course details

Name: SMARTtrain safe use of hazardous substances (Level 2)
Description: This course is suitable for induction level employees who will be using or exposed to substances classified as hazardous substances in the work place.
Cost: After NSW Gov subsidy $200 GST-free. Includes SMARTtrain card issue.
Learning outcomes:
  • Follow workplace procedures for hazard identification and risk control.
  • Observe safe practices during work operations.
  • Help maintain the health and safety of all people in the workplace.
Length: 4 hours
Course program/structure:
  • Safety at work
  • Hazardous substances and the law
  • Reading the label and MSDS
  • Personal safety with hazardous substances
  • Using hazardous substances
  • Record keeping
Resources and method of delivery: Participants will be provided with the following resource:
  • SMARTtrain Safe use of hazardous substances learning and assessment guide (AQF2).

On successful completion of this course a SMARTtrain Hazardous Substances identification card is awarded to the participant.

This course is delivered indoors.

Accreditation: This course is mapped to the following national unit of competency, RTC2701A - Follow OHS procedures.
