Name: SMARTtrain OHS risk management on farms (Level 4)
Description: This course is suitable for farm owners and managers.
Cost: After NSW Gov subsidy $375 GST-free. May attract a FarmBis subsidy.
Course aims: To assist farm owners and managers to develop an OHS system for their enterprise that complies with the OH&S Act 2000 and Occupational Health and Safety Regulation 2001.
Learning outcomes:
  • Assess workplace risks
  • Develop safe work practices for the farm
  • Develop OHS records
Length: 2 days
Course program/structure:
  • Performance or risk based OH&S
  • Identifying hazards
  • Assessing risks
  • Controlling risks
  • Recording risk assessments
  • What records and how the recording system works
  • Reviewing risk control measures
  • Risk assessment basics
Resources and method of delivery: Participants will be provided with the following resources:
  • Course notes
  • Checklists
  • A record system in hard copy and electronic format
  • Summary of the OHS Regulation 2001
  • Safety reference material
  • Hazard report carbon copy notebook

This course is mainly delivered indoors but includes some fieldwork.

Accreditation: This course is mapped to the following national unit of competency, RTC4701A - Implement and monitor the OHS program.
