SMARTtrain® Level 4 reaccreditation

Course details

Name: SMARTtrain Level 4 reaccreditation
Description: This course is suitable for people that have previously completed a Level 4 chemical use course and seeking reaccreditation.

People who use pesticides in their business or as part of their business must be reaccredited every five years.
Cost: After NSW Government subsidy, $290 GST-free.
Includes SMARTtrain® card issue.
Course aims: To allow participants to provide evidence of their ability to meet the course competencies and manage risks associated with the use of chemicals in the workplace.
Length: 1.5 days
Course program/structure:
  • Introduction to risk management
  • Integrated resistance and pest management
  • Chemical application management
  • OHS risk management
  • Environmental risk management
  • Residue risk management
  • Records management
Resources and method of delivery:
Participants will receive the following resources:
  • a reference manual
  • an assessment guide
  • a NSW, QLD or SA State legislation supplement

The SMARTtrain Livestock Supplement, Weed Control Learning and Assessment Guide and On Farm Fumigation Learning and Assessment Guide are option extras.
Accreditation: This course is mapped to the following national units of competency:
  • RTC4701A - Implement and monitor the enterprise OHS program
  • RTC4702A - Minimise risk in the use of chemicals
  • RTC4703A - Plan and implement a chemical use program.

This course was developed by NSW Department of Primary Industries and NSW TAFE.
