Skills assessment

A process which counts experience, skills and knowledge already gained, towards obtaining a nationally recognised qualification, useful inside and outside farming or rural businesses.

Measure existing skills against nationally derived competencies and qualifications.

A successful farming career can be translated into formal qualifications recognised as assets in the labour market.

To gain skills recognition you must provide evidence, negotiated with an assessor, of specific skills and knowledge in the relevant area.

This evidence exempts you from studying course units to gain a qualification.

MRSC staff can advise and help with your application.

We offer skills recognition for qualifications at Certificate IV, Diploma and Advanced Diploma level in:

  • Conservation and Land Management
  • Agriculture, including Irrigation
  • Horticulture and Production Horticulture
  • Training and Assessment (TAA40104)
  • Governance
  • Business Administration

Each course starts with a one-day workshop at Yanco or another NSW DPI District Office, followed by an individual assessment on farm or at your business and then regular communication by mail, email or other agreed means.

  • Interview-based Skills Recognition: $2400
  • Desk audit-based Skills Recognition: $1600

Skills recognition services are offered in association with CB Alexander campus of Tocal College.
