Facilities at MRSC

Murrumbidgee Rural Studies Centre (MRSC) offers a large range of courses and is the venue for a number of rural events. As well as its function as a training centre, MRSC has meeting/conference and accommodation facilities suitable for many functions, including family gatherings, sporting events and school group events. The campus

The campus of MRSC is situated on a beautiful 825 hectare setting in the heart of the Riverina district. The following map shows the layout of the campus at Yanco Agricultural Institute (YAI). MRSC is located within the YAI campus, and is mainly centred around the locations numbered 34, 35, 36, 41 and 42 on the map.

The modern Amaroo Conference Centre (No.41 on the map) contains a large conference room for meetings, seminars and gatherings, seating up to 60 people, and has its own kitchenette. Conference facilities include access to data projectors, laptops, computers, whiteboards, screens and overhead projectors upon request.

In addition to the main Amaroo Conference Centre, MRSC has a number of other conference, seminar, lecture, teaching workshop, computer and break-out spaces, with capacities ranging from eight to 100. Total seating capacity in classrooms and laboratories exceeds 500.

MRSC staff can organise catering for you as you wish, and your room configuration and equipment needs can be determined when your booking is taken.

Requests for special services

Applicants to any course who have a need for special information or services (for example disabled applicants), should contact the Course Secretary (see the enquiry details for the particular course concerned).

Meals and refreshments

For most of our classes, morning and afternoon teas (referred to as 'refreshments' in the course information), and lunch, are included in the fee charged for the course. If we provide meals and you have a special dietary need, please indicate your needs on the enrolment application form.

Accommodation

For participants in courses which run over two or more consecutive days, we will send, with your receipt, information about accommodation at the course venues. There are two styles of accommodation available on site at MRSC: motel-style and bunk house.

'Amaroo' motel-style accommodation

Amaroo, meaning ‘a quiet place’, features 15 bed and breakfast (continental) motel-style rooms (see location No.42 on the map). Each room has a queen bed and a single bed, ensuite, TV, toaster, tea and coffee making facilities, bar fridge, and heating and cooling. The motel rooms are organised around a central courtyard connected to the conference facility.

Bunk house accommodation

Inga and Calrose bunk house accommodation is self-catered. Rooms have a double bunk, wardrobe and desk. Linen and towels are provided.

Inga (No.31 on map) has 13 double rooms and one single room, and Calrose (No.30 on map) has 13 double rooms and three single rooms.

Both bunk houses have a kitchen with microwave, toaster, kettle and fridge. Barbecue facilities are available on site by request. A laundry, amenities room and shared single-sex bathroom facilities are also featured in each of the bunk houses.

Inga and Calrose offer excellent facilities for school, church, sporting or general interest groups.

Doongara

Doongara accommodation is self catered. Rooms have a king single bed, wardrobe and desk. Linen and towels are provided.

Doongara (No.33 on map) has 10 single rooms.

Doongara has a kitchen with a stove, microwave, toaster, kettle and fridge. A laundry, amenities and shared bathroom facilities also featured in Doongara cottage.

Doongara offers excellent facilities for the travelling worker, church, sporting or general interest groups.

Recreational facilities

With its park-like setting, the campus swimming pool is a delightful place to cool off at the end of the day, and the nearby barbecue and picnic facilities are perfect for outdoor get-togethers.

Tennis and basketball courts and a football oval are also part of the extensive outdoor facilities.
